A student’s attitude toward the challenges they face when seeking to achieve a goal or when trying to complete a task can help to determine whether he/she will be a success or failure in that goal or task.
For example, if you fear making a mistake while giving a speech that might cause you to be teased by your classmates, you may not succeed. But if you have the courage to overcome that fear, you will be successful, even though you might have made some mistakes.
These traits can manifest themselves in different ways. Making sure your homework is done on time, or accepting the consequences otherwise is an example of responsibility and maturity just like the willingness to ask for help when it’s needed.
Helping those around you who may be struggling shows compassion. Letting a teacher know if you or someone you know is being picked on, or always doing the right thing (even when nobody is around to recognize it) can be courageous!
Having positive personal character traits will not only allow you to achieve various tasks, but it also can be a strong indication of being a success in general.
Every month, we have chosen to concentrate on one single theme, or character trait. We'll review it to better define its meaning and discuss some different ways we can express that trait. Please check back later to read some student essays on the subject.
